Poorly trained staff. Good prices, good merch, just don’t expect any help at all. If you ask where an item is located, you get a finger point in the general direction. Is it a wonder Amazon is thriving?

Older gray haired woman at the front of Westlake Village Michaels location was rude and wildly unhelpful, this was not the first time. Didn’t leave a review the first time because figured she was having a bad day. Clearly this is an ongoing problem with her . She walked away from my nanny when she was inquiring about an online order I had placed earlier. The woman didn’t know I was on speaker phone with my nanny. It wasn’t until I spoke up assertively that she stopped being completely rude. Of course the online order was in fact ready and directly behind her on the counter. She did not even acknowledge her mishap nor did she apologize for her rude behavior. I worked in customer service/hospitality/retail for years. You don’t get to take your bad attitude out on customers just because you’re miserable. Do better.

This is one of my favorites craft stores for silk flowers and centerpiece bases. They have great discounts 3 times per year which makes things more affordable when buying in bulk. I love the reward vouchers I get which usually lead to getting free products. I do purchase in Hobby Lobby and Joan’s but for silk flowers Michael’s is the best, for greenery is hobby lobby and for greenery stems Joan’s. Michaels has great customer service online and in store. They don’t miss a thing and free delivery. Joann’s not so happy with their service and online is a hit and miss with my orders. Hobby lobby charges for delivery based on what you purchase and it can get expensive, store wise they are great although, in their charger plates decoré dept their product is usually damaged. So when I have a decoré job my first stop is Michael’s if I can’t find it there then I go to the others.

Michaels, Westlake Village: Unprofessional and Unacceptable Customer Service - Customers deserve better
In multiple instances, the behavior of the staff, particularly the front desk employee and at custom frame , at the Michaels store in Westlake Village has been shockingly unprofessional. They seem to lack basic customer service standards and disregard operational protocols.
One glaring example occurred when I visited the store on 20th Dec 2024 at 7:40 PM—well before its stated closing time of 10 PM. Despite the store being open, the custom frame counter employee outright refused to take my order. His excuse? He had “just signed out” and didn’t want to assist, even after multiple polite requests and mentioning that I drove all the way from a place 15 miles away. This level of apathy toward customers is unacceptable for any retail establishment.
This was not an isolated incident. My wife had a similar disappointing experience at this store on a different day and time. It’s evident that this location either has a systemic issue with staff training or a complete lack of accountability.
I strongly urge the management to address these recurring issues and instill a sense of responsibility among the staff. Customers deserve better. Until this is resolved, I cannot recommend this store to anyone.

I’m very frustrated with the customer service at Michael’s in Westlake Village. Despite their website stating a 10 PM closing time, I arrived at 7:50 PM to pick up my order and found the doors locked. Another time, I went at 7:40 PM for framing, and the employees rudely claimed they were closed, even though the posted time was 8 PM.
It feels like the staff follow their own schedules and treat customers poorly. On top of that, they’ve started charging unreasonable prices for basic framing. This unprofessional behavior is unacceptable and needs to be addressed.
