Reviews of Michaels
Michaels, a popular craft store, has received a diverse range of reviews from its customers, contributing to an overall rating of 4.2 out of 5 based on 731 reviews. Many patrons appreciate the vast selection of materials available, noting that the store is huge and offers practically everything they need for their crafting and decorating projects. For instance, loyal customers like Dannon Black express how they enjoy the thrill of finding items they didn’t even know they needed, likening the experience to a love-hate relationship with the store.
While the inventory often impresses, several customers have raised concerns regarding the customer service experience. Reviews by Aut inveniam viam aut faciam and kaiwei Guo highlight instances of poor service, including issues with checkout and employee attitudes that detract from the shopping experience. There seems to be a growing sentiment that some employees are overworked and less available for customer assistance, which has contributed to a less-than-satisfactory situation for some shoppers.
Despite these critiques, many customers acknowledge the discounts and rewards programs that Michaels offers, which help to balance out their expenses. Karleen Eberle noted a shift in the kinds of products offered, expressing a desire for more art supplies and fewer seasonal items, but still appreciates the reliable access to necessary materials. Chris Tokarski pointed out the store's cleanliness but criticized the limited inventory due to its smaller location.
- Positive aspects: Vast selection, regular discounts, helpful staff (in some cases).
- Negative aspects: Cases of poor customer service, issues with self-checkout, limited help on the floor.
- Suggestions for improvement: More focus on professional art supplies, employee retraining.
- Overall customer sentiment: A mix of satisfaction and frustration, with many loyal customers continuing to return.

If you like crafting or decorating, etc..do check out Michael's. Joanne's is closing out. Are children learning to be creative or are they too busy playing video games? I hope that Michael's will continue to exist for a long time. We need to give the computers, laptops, and cellphone a break.

michael’s is a craft store. it’s huge. if you can’t find it at michael’s. it may not exist.
i’m a craft kinda man. i have hobbies. unfortunately i work with glitter and michael’s has tons of glitter. although the glitter is spread throughout the store in different locations instead of being in the same area, oh well, i imagine that’s so i’ll buy other glitter related items and spend more money. typical corporate manipulation use of psychology. it works because i usually do spend even a little more than i want to. better crafts than drugs or alcohol huh. so let’s all give a hurrah to michael’s, the eventual downfall of western civilization. you rock michael’s.
make sure you laugh at the satire of this review. michael’s is a great craft store with great employees that are very nice and helpful with lots of daily discounts and specials. heck, i just bought a bunch of glitter that was buy one get another at 50% off. that’s why i limit my trips to michael’s or id have to get another job just to support my DIY crafts.
there you have it….
over and out….
Tno Money…..
stay crafty……
pictures are of my glitter kit…..
what i use my glitter for is a trade secret because i figured out how to make money from my glitter projects.

I visited this store in early May. I started with an associate, needed extra items, so I waited for the associate to return with them. When she returned, they advised me to use the self-checkout. When it failed, they advised me to go back to an associate to checkout. Weeks later, I noticed they charged me twice. I called and they hung up on me. I drove over and they sent me away with an 800-number. I called and didn't hear form them. I emailed and they had Helen, "the manager" called me. The solution: drive all the way from the city to Alameda or even waste my time driving to Colma to retrieve my funds.
Nope, their Pony Express system isn't capable of returning my money, and no one is capable of mailing a check.
Yep, I disputed with my bank and Michael's Alameda disputed the charge-back! I don't recommend this store of incompetent twits and that includes Helen, who thinks I give a phuuuuuque about her commute from Stockton. They pay you to be there. Stop trying to diminish my drive from the city to either of these stores, which about the same distance. I've already wasted half of the money driving back to Alameda after you people hung up on me. Use cash or shop HL, Target, Walmart, local crafting stores.

Store is reasonably clean without an extensive inventory due to the small location. Staff not very helpful or knowledgeable.

I always love coming into the store, they always have everything I never knew I needed...
The story is like a love-hate relationship, sort of like the dollar store, you always go in with the few items in your head that you need... Then you always generally come out with a lot more then you came in for! So fun to get crafty and it's so fun to build ideas in this store! This one in particular was very clean and organized, it also had a wonderful clearance section. But most of all the staff was friendly and warm-hearted to me being in need of help.
Thank you!

The only art & craft store left in Alameda. It’s still got a fairly decent selection of fine art and professional design supplies. It has changed a lot over the last couple years. Increase in seasonal decor and superfluous items that don’t support my professional designer needs or crafty hobbies. I wish they would dial back on that stuff and bring back more legitimate art and design supplies. Still I’m grateful I can find the supplies I need most of the time. Of course Micheal’s does fantastic discounts and the rewards are nice. Often the professional supplies I need are locked up. There are fewer staff members around to help, they seem over worked and like the new self check out system is actually more work for them. If you’re patient and have a plan, this Micheal’s is still a reliable source for art, design and craft supplies.

Yesterday at 10 a.m., I went to the store. A short-haired white female employee approached me and asked if I needed help. I showed her a picture, and she said it was out of stock, suggesting I check at the Emeryville store. I responded with, "Maybe." Then, right in front of me, she rolled her eyes with a disdainful expression. She displayed a complete lack of customer service attitude. I recommend retraining her.

I got a frame and matte. More expensive than I thought but was a sale on the matte thankfully.
