Although this review is a bit later than promised, I wanted to share my experience with Jay and the printing center services.

Recently, Los Angeles hosted a women’s half marathon with thousands of participants. Being the last minute guy that I am, I wanted to surprise my participant with custom signs that would put the biggest smile on her face. In my search for a local printing service, I came across Jay.

After a quick phone call where I tried (somewhat poorly) to explain my vision, Jay patiently worked with me in person for nearly an hour, adjusting designs and sizes until everything was just right. In that time, I not only learned a bit about design, but also about Jay himself—his warmth, generosity, and deep love for the community.

I discovered that Jay came to California 30 years ago, drawn by the sunshine and beaches, and has since built a loving family and a business rooted in care and connection. As a bonus, his prices were even better than the big-name competitors like FedEx and UPS.

Jay, thank you for your professionalism and for staying true to your values. Your presence in the community is truly appreciated.

After looking into the larger, corporate printers and seeing high prices and long turn around times for printing a poster, I found Print X-Press. Jay talked with me on the phone, checked my design after I emailed it to him, printed my poster in under an hour, and called me to let me know it was ready. He was so friendly and efficient. My print looks amazing. I can't recommend this shop enough, and will be using it again!

I needed a BIG foam board sign printed for the next day . Neither Office Depot nor Staples had that rush service. I stopped at Print X-press after 6 pm and they said: you'll have it tomorrow at 11 am!

The foam board was of good quality, done in record time and at a very affordable price, similar to what the charge was to order online on the big stores (only done way faster).

TI went to Jay because of the reviews. I had a designed labels on Adobe Illustrator. One needed to be scaled to 33% of the actual size. When it loaded to the print screen, the default was 35%. I told Jay that I needed it to print at 33% scale not 35%. He made some setting changes but it ended up printing at 35%. I looked at the print screen and it still said 35%. I asked why he did not change it to 33% and he said that he couldn't because it was in PDF format. That is not true. The printer is separate program and can scale PDF. Even if he was right, why would he just print it out anyway. If I need it to be scaled to 33% to fit a jar, what makes him think that 35% will work. Then he charged me for the job, even though I stood there and had to cut a center section out of the label to force it to fit because I was on my way to a client.

Next label - The next label printed out to the right scale, but then Jay totally screwed up the cut. Look at the two pictures. (Sorry for the extra pics. They were not showing up after posting, not until I left the site and came back.) He cut the labels on his cutting machine. Does anyone in their right mind find these acceptable? The white border is not suppose to be there. The label edging is baby blue. So what did he do? He charged me, and did not offer to fix them.

Why did I pay him for this crappy job? My wife, who has stage 4 cancer was sitting there waiting and the last thing I was going to do was get into an argument that would upset her. But I will tell you this. I will never go into this place or recommend it to anyone.

I came here late on a Sunday to print out 10 K reports for my job. The owner was incredibly kind and stayed after hours to help me. He went above and beyond and even offered to bind my documents and make them into easy to read booklets. This is an extraordinary place with good people. I couldn’t recommend it more highly. The print turned out to be high-quality and excellent.
