I sure “had it” with this my unfortunate experience with this company. Long story short, I got completely fleeced and borderline traumatized on a project that I dreamed up for years and worked on for weeks.

I approached Locke (the owner) about having a set of pieces I had 3D printed plated with gold. I emailed him photos of the pieces I had been filling/sanding and he advised me to finish them off with 600 grit sandpaper in order to ensure an ideal surface for executing this job. When I took them in, he told me that since the pieces are made of ABS, it would be better to do a metallic paint job on them rather than a gold plate finish because the outer layer could possibly sink in over time, thus exposing the hollow points of the pieces. Fair enough, I agreed to doing the pseudo chrome gold paint job and paid for it in full that day in order to ensure it would get finished by my personal deadline. I will note that when taking the pieces in, I had them wrapped in bubble wrap in a box and I accidentally dropped the box while walking to the facility from my car. This caused one of the pieces to have a small crack in the corner, but I was assured it would be patched and fixed in order to match another mirroring piece that’s identical to it.

A couple days later, I was told that their painter was out of town and that the job would be delayed, but rushed to get finished as soon as that person got back. I went and picked up the pieces the moment that I was notified they were ready (they were all inside of a packaged box, so I did not open it there). I had the pieces inside my air conditioned home sitting unopened until I was ready to affix them to a flat panel for my art project I’d been working on and preparing. When I opened up the box and removed them, I noticed that they were all bent out of shape and there was no way I could screw them into the panel that way. On top of that, there was a series of concave patterns on all of them (the outer layer had sunken in) — this is what I was warned about if we did the gold plating option and was advised to do the paint option in order to avoid exactly this, yet it still occurred. In addition, there was also trapped dust and air bubbles under the paint on all the pieces. The piece that had the cracked corner now had a portion chipped off and missing entirely.

I contacted Locke about the erroneous details and he said that the dust/air bubbles are out of their control when doing a paint job. I honestly find that ridiculous and a downright avoidance of taking accountability for a poorly done job. I do not think it is normal or acceptable for any paint job to have such vital flaws in it. He also told me that the pieces likely warped due to being left in the heat…as I mentioned, they were sitting inside my 72 degree air conditioned house. He recommended I put the pieces in my oven at up to around 230 degrees in order for them to return to their original shape. I said I was not comfortable doing this and we agreed to have them try it in their oven. I dropped them off and after several days, I went to get them but was told that the clear coat finish had turned into an iridescent rainbow finish somehow when they heated them up. Are they just running an experimental lab here? Also, they were still slightly bent and not in the original shape which they were when I took them in. On top of that, one of the pieces from the set was missing when I got them back again.

At this point, my pieces are completely unusable after everything they’ve gone through at the hands of this company. I asked if they can remake them for me, but they said the best they can do is offer an apology and a refund for the paint job. To reprint the pieces and either do a paint or plating job, it would cost me $2-4K respectively. So, they basically took something that I myself worked on for several weeks, ruined it, refused to replace or remake it without charging me and left me in a such a livid state I became numb for some time until I was able to gather myself to write this review.

I contacted There You Have it because I'm trying to have a car part machined and I needed it 3D imaged FIRST. I sent the message this past Sunday, March 2nd, and BOOM, answered by Adam today/this morning March 3rd. Great response time! Unfortunately, they couldn't help me with my current project, and explained why. Adam even went so far as to suggest another company AND provide the information to me, ALL in the same email response! I am super impressed, just by this small action. Most people won't even respond if it's something they can't do or won't make much money. But Adam/There You Have It went above and beyond for me. I'm trying to scrape up SOMETHING to do business with them on, and hope you will too! Thank you There You Have It/Adam, you are a cut above!

I worked with There You Have It 3D for a very last minute project that had a tight deadline. They were extremely accommodating, Locke (the owner) even reached out to me over the weekend - to confirm the size of my print and fixed it as I had saved my file incorrectly. The print arrived, safely packaged and with plenty of time left on my tight deadline. The resin print is excellent quality, I have worked with many 3D printing services over the last 10 years and this was the best experience I've had to date. I will definitely be using them for all my printing needs moving forward. Thanks again!
